Did you try reading the BOINC software development overview ? It looks pretty comprehensive, but I have not used BOINC myself.

Since installing the subject update my main PC is dragging :(

It may even be beneficial to uninstall the old version and delete the BOINC program data version of BOINC lower than....
If you're going to downgrade to a version 6 of BOINC stop cache.
It'll still crunch and report.

Boinc runs fine, if I start it with command:
Code: sudo -u boinc /usr/bin/boinc_client --dir /var/lib/boinc
But I still can't start Boinc using service boinc-client start .

Apologies if this information is already common knowledge, but it took me like 10 days to figure it out. I wanted to crunch using my GPU's along with my CPU's and pretty much exclusively use my CPU's for WCG, and my GPU's for MW@H.

I was doing 1min27sec average on Milkyway....
I'm looking to upgrade to an HD5850 for awesome GPU crunching & gaming .
My HD3850 takes a few minutes (like 10) to run a WU that would otherwise take 12 hours .
Just make sure to disable MW@H's CPU WU's on their site .
