Where do you buy childrens books from?
I love going through different book stores, I have bought all Ds books at various places and second hand stores markets etc. Lifeline has a good bookstore near me and they have a huge sale twice a year which is well worth a look. I have bought at places like Kmart and Target but not often.

Childrens book exchange anyone?
Ok ladies I know a little farther along in our pregnancies we'll do a shower exchange, but I thought it would be fun to do a Children's book exchange now. So I just wanted to see if anyone is interested and if so I'll work on getting it set up!

Childrens books with "alternative" themes?
For older readers, I think that the Sharon Creech novels often involve aspects of NFL or "alternative" lifestyle choices that appeal to motheringdotcommune readers. A mother has a baby at a birth center, a crazy-wonderful family that has fun and takes in anyone who needs a place to live, that sort of thing.

Why is The Hobbit considered a CHILDRENS STORY?
I don't consider it a children's story, but I can see why one might get confused. The language used to tell the Hobbit isn't as rich and detailed as LOTR or the Silmarillion, and therefore easyer for younger minds to comprehend. Therefore, some assume that because younger ages can understand it better than they can understand other books of Tolkien, they are meant for younger readers.

Should Parents be intolerant of childrens bad behavior?
Not a parent, but kids definitely need AUTHORITAH, more than they get from a lot parents today. In some households kids are being raised by their electronic gadgets. Like you said younger children need stricter rules.
