My kids thoroughly enjoyed having the book read to them, I loved that the books the step towards reading by trying to read the books to each other.

I am trying to help my son in understanding and following his novel readings. The teacher's at my son's school basically say read and now test. He doesn't get to many assignments to support the novel reading. I googled all night trying to find questions...

But you can't have those kinds of depth discussions with him if you haven't read the book.
It's not a huge book and I'd guess you could speed-read it in a few tests.
ASAP and then discuss with him.
