Borax? Reading some 'home methods' for cleaning & it's suggested to use Borax in several places. Where's the best cost-effective place to buy Borax? Thanks.

Some of the lard recipe's I've read include the use of borax. I didn't know what the function of borax was so I looked it up. Borax boosts the cleaning ability by softening the water and boosting the sudsing. I guess my question is is borax that necessary...

For laundry they sometimes added borax as a water softener, I think, but don't know much about that..

I use something similar to Hog....
NO NEED, but Try 2 cups borax 1 cup.
Tom I have not used borax cures for over 25 years.
Once in awhile I'll take some small pieces of Roe, and just cure them in Borax, but that's only, it'll fix them.

What does it say on the box? It really depends on how hard your water is and how much water is in the washer .
I'd try 2 tbsp, plus the usual detergent.
