Bose Speakers

They are at best "OK", I would like to replace mine sooner than later. A friend of mine replaced his speakers and his stereo sounds so crisp compared to mine! source

Boston Acustics make great replacement speakers for the C6. I've replaced the door and rear and disconnected the center. source

For headphones, I've been a fan of Sony's MDR-7506. Got them back when I occasionally had to play sound tech for campus events back in college. They've survived some serious physical abuse from me over the years. About the only complaint I've had with them is that the audio cord is not user replaceable if it wears out, unlike some of the Sennheisers. On the topic of bose speakers, I've seen some techs try and get them to sound passable. The graphic EQ for the system was all over the map to compensate for the speaker's weaknesses on the high and low ends. source

Bose is the Rockford Fosgate of the home audio world. At one time they may have been OK, but it's all crap these days. source

Bose IS the most overrated brand in audio, period. They're really expensive stuff has good mid-range, but nothing they make for bass or treble sounds as good as it should for what they charge. If you took all their prices, divided by 3, that would make them on par with their competition. source
