I know my iPod Touch 2G sometimes reads to iTunes as an iPhone 1G, and I need to plug it out and back in to get it recognised as an iPod Touch .
Maybe you were sent the wrong device's version of 3.0.1 .

That does not mean there are bit in the admin guide and KB for Symantec NetBackup... .
There is a MS KB article here that explains how to enable a sort of Brick Level backup using exmerge.
Brick level backup is not really available in Exchange 2007.
