I wonder if there's any way for Californians to invite people smarter than them to be the ones to go to the convention and do the rewrite. Maybe they can have some town in New Hampshire do it for them. Think of it as a modern version of Parliament inviting William and Mary to be king.

Should California be broken up as a State, and if so how?
Though I doubt that So Cal would agree to any split that did not include Inyo, because of the Los Angeles Aquaduct. We would be losing the headwaters of the California Aquaduct in any deal, so the prospect of suddenly getting all our water from out of state would probably not be very appealing.

Will California become America's first failed state?
If he is as unpopular as the article makes out, wouldn't they have done a recall election by now? Is it that he isn't quite that unpopular yet, that they can't afford to have one, or that the dems don't want to have a crack at fixing things?

California Bailout?
I think that this pretty much shows that you can't leave budget decisions to the masses. The process requires discussion, deliberation, and compromise. You can't just wash your hands of the decisions that need to be made by passing the process off to a public vote.
