The gas products contain both the methanol vapor ....
If you continue the distillation, you this is a better use for wood than the gas products.
That the gas from destructive distillation of wood is VERY low octane.

I know burning wood will produce potassium hydrate (KOH), but I don't know if it's a byproduct pyrolize the limbs, bark and sawdust, then burn the remaining charcoal.
