Can education be a business expense?
Only if the son was an employee of the partnership. Then the fees, etc would be a benefit in kind assessable on the son because educational costs relating to learning a new skill are not allowable for tax purposes.

Education and background -- did it help?
I might add that I had also a 10 year break from my Commodore 64 days to my first 486 PC. In only wish that I would have actually read this assembly book I owned, but I gave up after the first few pages.

A new career - what is in demand?
My own personal opinion is that "Nannystate" issues will drive the future. Think of the requirement now to have Safepass for every employee on building sites. You could make a new career out of delivering Health and Safety courses and seminars. Once the government brings in some regulation, it creates a career opportunity!

What were your career goals before pharmacy?
What I haven't told anyone yet is that really I'm just doing pharmacy so that I can add it to the long list of completely different jobs I've worked to put on the inside flap of my amazingly successful novels that I haven't actually written yet. I think there's a rule that authors have to work all kinds of zany jobs like day spa sauna cleaner or bean inspector at the local grain mill.
