How can I change the icons in the Window Buttons plugin?

I just wonder if you have the Taskbar properties set to Never Combine Combine' .
Try the options including 'NeverUnpin then repin the icon.
Right-click Start Orb, Properties, Taskbar, Taskbar buttons.

I probably spend far too much time trying to make my visual interfaces look good, and while I'm pretty adept at finding the right match between usability and style one area I am hopeless at is making nice looking icons.

There are over 1000 icons of toolbar buttons or other such objects to fill, its possible to get by with very few icons beyond your own unique ....
The silk icon set is a good, free set and can be found at FamFamFam .

In Windows XP you could collapse the Quick Launch menu (next to the Start button) on the Task Bar so that instead of seeing, for example, 5 icons, you'd just get one of them and a drop down (up?) arrow to access the others via a menu.

Dude, in Win7, when a pinned application is not running, it just appears as an icon on the taskbar, but when its running....
As the quicklaunch buttons in both vista and xp, however in here, those apps are actually just shortcuts to change it.

I use applications in google chrome a lot, so gmail, hootsuite etc all have their own application. I find it fits well with how I like to work. So if I want gmail I tap the windows key type gmail and tap enter. Done.
What I'd like to see is each chrome...

Currently this will affect other programs and how they group on the taskbart and can't be done .
