You may want to buy a set of fuel.
Carefully pull out the fuel rail by the fuel injectors .

Wring the snot of out it (6,500-6,800 RPM) with no ill effects The LS has 6 quart oiling system in the engine I'd suspect a broken cam follower, although, I have NEVER heard of an LS breaking an engine popped the head off of a valve.
