Here is the DIY on transmission fluid change-Tiptronic . Its not much in detail, but just to give you an idea. I took some pictures while I was doing the fluid change. Changed ATF @98420 miles(around 162000km).

To flush the transmission with as much as 15 liters (!$ ) of expensive fluid through the cooler linesa friend came over to do his tranny fluid and left a mess in front of the house.

If your car has the following symptoms, this procedure will help
a) S4 indicator flashing
b) A/T code of 2 or 8
c) stuck with one gear (usually at higher gear)
d) hard to shift between gear, etc.
In my case, my car has all a, b and c

Thanks Folks! The 88/89 K4 transmission has a set of 2 solenoids located at the front of the transmission.
^^^^ Are you saying the 88-89 only has one valve riding .
And aren't accessible without transmission disassembly.

Starting to think this was a waist of time, they sent my wife home with 3qrts of DW-1. Above posters have mentioned 3.5 may be needed ? the 3quarts were $26.00 so if i need another quart im $35.00 into this plus a $2.00 crush washer, so with taxes on ...

I did some searching on this, and found a bunch of opinions but nothing really conclusive. I have a 1989 535i 5spd with a Getrag 260/6 transmission. Changing the trans fluid is one of the very few remaining maintenance items I haven't done since I purchased...

Like MT-90! Can also be used in the rear axle .
Update: Transmission is stuck in reverse after having issues with 2nd, 4th in the engine.
Compared to the original fluid.

Ok so have browsed here and the interweb and found that apparently, my 2 needs "Toyota Electro-Hydraulic power steering fluid (part no 08886-01206)" power steering fluid.
Quick question; will this stuff do any harm to my car if I cant get the above for...

Ok i have been all over this site and have found to many people running alot of diffrent tranny fluid. i was wondering which one to use? i have a 95 dohc acr stock trans...i rebuilt the motor ...new clutch,,,ect and now need trans fluid???ne ideas

Tried Pennzoil and Royal Purple Synchromesh, Red Line MTL, ATF, Mopar Manual Transmission Fluid, Honda Manual Transmission Fluid, and 5w30 and 10w30 motor oils.
