I use.
I use it for my laptop.
HDMI --> DVI adapter will work perfectly.
How it's done.Apart from choosing the "extend" option, you can also choose which screen/monitor how to do (If possible).

I would tryDoes it work when you run a cable direct from the Mac to TV? I've tried running it direct to the TV manually choosing a different output....
With the cat5 extender and with a 25' HDMI cable and both have the same effect.
