Well I I'm in college for Network Support Administration Today we had to make are own cables and I was wondering which is better to buy your cables or to make them yourself? PS: I now hate cables....

HDMI will inherently lag VGA cables? I think you accidentally....
Get official microsoft ones.
But off brand VGA cables are bad, end of story.

As far as power cables go, in my experience they don't make much difference, however clearer audio make some good entry level power cables that are under £50.00.
As an expensive one.

As far as what to label the cables with - I would stay away from anything specific....
The cables themselves are not generally labeled.
Of short cables to patch between panels, and keep a database / text file of computer-port number...
