Cake Question

I volunteered to make a large layer cake for a reception. It will be a 14-inch round layer cake , for which I hope to cut two cakes horizontally to get four thin layers. I have a great recipe with a 1/2 recipe, just to see if the proportions of cake:filling:frosting need to be adjusted too
