I would only go for a set of 272's they came off a 6 but I dont think thats a stock cam is it?
I do plan to upgrade to an Evo 9 turbo.

I hope someone can shed some light on this topic. I am having my motor rebuilt small block 350 and I need to replace the cam. I have to choose between roller cam or flat tappet cam and I am not sure which one I should choose. is one better than the other...

The main advantage of a roller cam is that the cam lobes can be ground steeper....
They are significantly cheaper to buy and easier to install .
The advantage of a flat tappet cam is $ and simplicity.
Recently had to make the same decision.

Maybe this question has been answered before, but which cam is better as far as mid range and top end pull? The MRW cams has a lower duration than the piper cams, but the lift is higher so i'm a bit confused. I don't know too much about cams, so i'm trying...

My 1985 8v GTI leaks a bit from the cam cover, it has the original tin cover with the cork gasket and the two rubber half moon seals. Is there a better repalcement? as I can't see it ever being 100% oil tight as it is

How is a leaking cam cover gasket going to affect compression? Well a leaking gasket can effect compression..
And unmetered air would be entering the engine.
