I would only go for a set of 272's they came off a 6 but I dont think thats a stock cam is it? I do plan to upgrade to an Evo 9 turbo.

The main advantage of a roller cam is that the cam lobes can be ground steeper....
They are significantly cheaper to buy and easier to install .
The advantage of a flat tappet cam is $ and simplicity.
Recently had to make the same decision.
As title says i would most prefer a n71, this cam has little to no miles on it, let me know thanks

I emailed Crower cams asking if they made a cam for the 3vze and They responded, "Unfortunately we do not have a cam core available. We can however regrind your stock cam for $172 and 1 week lead time. If you are interested just send them in to my attention...

Yes I have heard stories adout and oversize valves and the cam seems to be the last part to open things up and still be reliable cams Just so you can ....

My 1985 8v GTI leaks a bit from the cam cover, it has the original tin cover with the cork gasket and the two rubber half moon seals. Is there a better repalcement? as I can't see it ever being 100% oil tight as it is

How is a leaking cam cover gasket going to affect compression? Well a leaking gasket can effect compression..
