For "installing JMF on Linux", one way is simply to:
download it .
JMF ( Java Media Framework ) should be able to detect any media, including a webcam .

I'm working on a Win32 application in C++ and would like to add the ability to output the default web cam onto the screen. I was wondering if there was a Win32 API for this, or a way to do this without coding the whole thing.

OpenCV is based on Win3....
CapXXX API is really old and obsolete.
I'd recommend DirectShow.
That googles really well, you'll have no trouble finding code samples .
Yes, it is really simple with capCreateCaptureWindow.
Using OpenCV you can access webcam.

I installed the W7 RC, everything works very well, except for the cam, mic and speakers. There is nothing to be found on sony's websies, all of them; If anyone managed to resolve this issue I would really appreciate it.

Here are all the drivers and software updates that exist for this model... .
If there are no Win7 drivers, try the Vista drivers .
Win7 downloaded the wrong drivers for my webcam.
I would suggest downloading the drivers yourself directly from the Sony website .

I was just wondering if it has ever been mentioned on this forum? Wouldn't it be great if you could look at live web cams of the parks and crowds? Maybe install one at the red phone booths in the UK so you could watch who answers the phone when you call...
