If it's possible to read the creation time of images in the camera roll, or some similar metadata from the camera, or an image ....
The same process as camera roll, converting the image to JPEG yourself isn't going to be of much use.

They are not too much more expensive than the compact digital camera a digital SLR over a point & shoot type....
The Canon digital rebel or the Nikon D70.
This is my advice...go over budget and get an SLR digital camera.
