If it's possible to read the creation time of images in the camera roll, or some similar metadata from the camera, or an image ....
The same process as camera roll, converting the image to JPEG yourself isn't going to be of much use.

Is there any opensource video camera security and surveillance solution which support any IP Camera?
Zoneminder is one of them... But i am not sure does it support any brand of ip camera or have any brand limitation?

That uses off camera (or off hot-shoe) flash uses a sync cord from the hot shoe to the flash(es is the power source for these?...does it get it's power from the camera's battery via the hot shoe.
