I'm running a (mostly) single threaded program (there's a main thread that does everything, the others only read stuff). I can get the application to run fine in VS2008 after a minor change (I changed the text of a form, and tab order of another form)...

Well, it works on my own computer where I have visual studio installed. I install the exe file with installutil and the service works fine. But when I install it on another computer where only the framework is present, I still can install it with installutil...

I often have the startup just kick off a timer (10 seconds or so nothing too long) so that the service can offically start... .
What are you doing during the service startup? Most likely is that something in there isn't working and forcing the service to fail .
