I asked my hotel problems using USD Pesos go further.
Are widely accepted in the tourist areas but your money will go further if you use pesos.

Did anyone in the NY metro area see the report on Cancun on CBS 2 news...we were there in March when these issues happened. It scared us enough to learn about the corrupt police and the "hostage" situation...we may think twice about going back. the problems...

Then narrowed it down and came down to Cancun Palace .
I think they blocked rooms out because they are going to close cheaper than booking two rooms.

This sounds like your first trip to Cancun, right?? Wow; gonna rent a car but you don't yet know what you want to do or see?? Nothing personal, but I would suggest going without a car and just get a feel for Cancun ....
