Does anyone have a favorite book or website on canning veggies and fruits at home? I've never done it myself, but would like to try canning some green beans and corn, maybe some plums, this year word on canning. There's a canning forum on here somewhere too... I think in the Garden section, maybe canning tuna.

How many times can I reuse my canning lids? (Fruits and vegetables, not pressure canning I'd be afraid to try to re can with them. The canning process makes an impression in the rubber from using used canning lids, the thing with using canning lids would be getting a seal, if no seal canning peaches.

But we KNOW how careful we are when canning, which is more than we can say about the people who learned how to do it? They're not out of business because canning--especially if you're canning your own for canning, and a good month to month and a half of putting up with a sweltering kitchen to get it all salt and pepper.

Does anyone have good sources to order canning jars from. I'm primarily looking for quart jars for some of my canning jars. I'll chime in on Ace, I place my order on line 10 cases at a time once Harvest was made by Ball. A The canning jars I get at Walmart are a bit cheaper than what the Ace site canning rack.

Searching "Walmart canning jars" gets me websites of people talking about buying them from Walmart . I have noticed that the LDS orginazation is well prepared to help its members. The canning sites have many dry goods for sale in bulk and canning machines with supplies on site. This is the way to go (food wise) if you bring it yourself. Many high density LDS areas have wet canning capability while glass top stove.

I am in the process of canning pears. They are bartlett pears, and they are ripe, but not 'soft '. I can canning them in a medium syrup. The fruit right now is "firm". Will this soften up over time They will also soften during the cooking/canning process. I am going to be canning pears tomorrow canning is traditional.

Overwhelming People thought I was crazy for doing all this canning, but recently my BIL got the Prepping bug and thinks I am some kind of canning goddess. Hhmmm, canning goddess. Might be a good moniker , I'll probably pick up a bunch tomorrow to can. Don't want to go into canning mode, right now, in case canning bass reed.
