Does a high octane give you more power or does it help with pinging or cooling. I know with cars you only need higher octane when your car is pinging but how does that work with peds?

The gas station that I have been using for years switched their 91 premium to a 10% ethanol blend. Their 88 octane is still ethanol free. Should I use it instead? I have a 99' 9-5 SE 4cyl turbo and our elevation is about 5300 ft.

However ....
Regular octane is recommended for most cars.
Need to switch to a higher octane level is if your car engine knocks when you use the recommended to determine the right octane level for your car.
