1999 Camaro A4 3.8L that's 100 problems with too much spring pressure... .
Felt the lifter start to load (TDC), the comp lifters don't have the range that the stockers do I turned crank so valves were all shut and no load on the lifters.

I've had one lifter go lifters involved and the engine....
It can wipe the lobes and lifter if the cam never got a good broke in, not sure how many miles to it lol Or an interference in the valvetrain, or not enough zddp in the oil.

We all know not to reuse flat tappet lifters on a new cam but what about rollers? I have a 40 000 mile Comp hydraulic roller and am in need of new lifters. You can see by looking at the cam lobes that they're worn. Nothing you can feel with your fingertips...

Numquam ponenda est pluralitas sine necessitate.
Flat tappet always need to go back it back into a motor, new lifters OR old.
Used roller lifters are ok to run on a used roller cam.

I have never done this but have heard cover then clean/replace problematic lifter....
*At your risk.
It gets hot (or maybe idling till hot is a better idea don't take my word for it) (lifter noise should be gone) then do an oil change.

My 71 coupe has a rebuilt 350 that was built to LT1 specs.
I am getting some intermittent lifter/rocker tapping.
It is getting worse, so I took off the valve covers and found 1.5 EPWI rockers?
I am thinking I should change them and the lifters.
The motor...

It is a common problem for our cars. Lifters with high mileage start making noise and bleed overnight. This is not because of a worn lifter, but because of dirt collected by it.
Our lifters have a check valve consisting of a steel ball, a ball seat, and...
