If you do a bit of servicing for folk and buy and sell the odd car then you *are* in the motor trade
That said, you should probably avoid the mechanical stuff because you'd need liability insurance.....
To drive pretty much anything.

I've arranged to borrow a car in the UK.
To add an additional overseas driver to the existing insurance for a month is around NZD$600(!). Clearly that insurance company is not keen on the idea.
Anyone encountered this situation and know of better alternatives...

Ended up about NZ$500 for 6 weeks and that was cheap because the car a brand new car from Europe, but this only works out cheap if you are going for a month or more, how that involves hiring a brand new ....
