Probably not the Nokia's fault, just a coincidence, never heard of a specific device killing a SD card.
But most likely the card is dead.

I'm getting the BSOD fairly frequently in the last week, and I can't figure out why. The errors lead me to believe a memory failure somewhere (MEMORY MANAGEMENT, PAGE IN NONPAGE AREA), but they only occur under heavy loading of my video card (NVIDIA GeForce...

What are your temperatures running at on the card on the card? Otherwise, it might need replacement.
This sounds like you have overheating issues.

Ideally I would go with this
record.SaleAmount.Value = sql.Reader.IsDBNull(IDX_SALEAMOUNT) ? null : sql.Reader.GetDecimal(IDX_SALEAMOUNT);
Alas the compiler...

So your question is:
"how do I populate a datagrid in a background thread?"
if you're doing that then use the background worker component and on its report progress event populate your grid with already returned data. .
