Even with the downturn it’s still very hard to get a competent construction sector tradesperson (Carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, plastering etc). There are loads of them about but very few of them are any good. I’ve never hired a painter, plasterer...

In an effort to not have down time I was considering framing a 22 wide by 14 deep deck prior to the footings getting inspected. The inspectors only come out once a week. Has anyone done this? Am I playing with fire?
