I would hit....
Got a feelin the brush tip will help pull up, and if you don't get up all of the water, you could have an issue with corrosion under the carpet qualities of wet salt.
On carpet? Just use the shop vac, try some different ends.

I started using wax bullets years ago for quick draw but now use the cases, and cookie-cutter....
I know guys mostly theirs to be about the best out there .

Looking at the baseboards it seems the old carpet will stick to the lower part of baseboards when I paint them.

Since a can of Imperial will be used up in 10 like I used a tiny bit of that Imperial... .
You should throw out every thing else and use Imperial Die Wax there is a good reason Die Wax there is a good reason for it's popularity.
