It's a complicated dietGluten is in wheat, rye, and barley - it also contaminates oats .
Casein is in dairy, so that diet is dairy free.
Would include gluten.

I Have been reading the book "The China Study" which is considered the most comprehensive study of nutrition ever conducted.
Anyways one of the biggest points in the book is how Casein promotes cancer. Casein makes up 87% percent of cow milk protien.

I'm a firm believer....
Of a gluten-free/casein-free diet is not new, having been employed for decades by many health that a casein intolerance can be as bad as gluten, I'm just kicking myself for not sticking to this earlier now.

Casein is a part of milk, and so far they don't take a pill and eat dairy products.
Lactaid helps replace the enzyme you'd be lacking to digest lactose .
Casein is a milk protein.

I just passed the 1 yr gluten-free mark and feel SO much better. Still not as energetic as I would like, but getting there. My question is regarding dairy. I have discovered the major adult acne I am fighting goes away ...

If even traces of casein....
It just take awhile for them to build up after going gluten-free? I guess I am wondering if I need to be casein free for reasons other than vanity.

Lynn, I think that can happen as the body adjusts .
They are going to try removing gluten next.
On a side note, my brother just tried going casein free with my nephew, who is 5.

I'm a mom to a child on the autistic spectrum. We're trying the gluten free/casein free diet to see if it helps him. Dairy free I'm familiar with, as he's spent much of his life dairy free. But gluten free is a whole new (terrifying) world for me....
