My Dawes Audax Supreme has a Shimano 105 10sp groupset. Existing cassette is 25t and Max cassette is 28/27t.
I am hoping to use a 32t SRAM Apex cassette. I know this is compatible with Shimano chain/derailleur/shifter.
As long as I don't cross chain, ...

In theory it should work, but we'll see: might find myself buying speed ?) and £40 on a 12/32T... .
With a 32T cassette as long as the range of movement of the derailleur matches that of a 10sp derailleur cassette and a compact on the front.

Should i go massive on the cassette....
I think il change the cassette first as it seems the cheaper option.
Thanks for the reply.
Sorry for bad news.
If not your only option is to get a cassette.
Your chain set and replace it with a compact.

A MTB cassette, like a 11-3....
You have to screw the limit screw back a little I've used against .
SRAM works.
You have to screw trick is to get a cassette.
SRAM works.
The only trick is to get a cassette.
You can use a 34 on Ultegra.

My '81 Macho originally came with the optional AM/FM/Cassette player and I'd love to put one back in. Original part number is 4048501 and should look like this:
There might be an '82/'83 unit which looks similar which I'd consider as well.
Answer Snippets (Read the full thread at ramchargercentral):
The '78-'81 parts book also says that '80 and '81 share the same part number of 4048501 for the "AM/FM/MX/Cassette" which is what the option sticker correct cassette deck on eBay....
Owner's manual also shows the same cassette player...
