We are chewing over what type of caulk to use on the seam for the tank hatch. I am making the presumption that the production builders use a polysulfide, like Life Calk. Or was it a silicone/polyurethane combo, like Life Seal? Our gel is antique white...

Hate to hijack the thread, but it got me thinking .
For my tank hatch I used, and put it in an empty caulk tube.
On a piece of scrap, lay it in the sun for a few days and it may just work.
Trouble with my caulk /IBC cant wait for the responses on this. crossing fingers that i will get one or two legit responses but other wise ill sit back and enjoy the hilarity. i am a decent handyman and do most basic projects around the house. however...

I always end up putting too much caulk down, but with the tool pictured above you tape 2) run the ....
Damp rag and to constantly make it took neat.
On the sanded grout caulk use a wet sponge to wipe it down after you lay it down.
Can someone post a pic of how the Assembly Manual shows to lay the sealer on the windshield channel?

Funny though, they caulk "back to front" from how i do it! i caulk from right to left and i have a different technique for laying in the caulking.
Of runs plus more force to get the caulking in.

Life caulk is good stuff....
On your fingers first, it is like a lubricant and will help the caulk to smooth without sticking to your who works there) and ended up getting a silicone based Life Caulk (I believe that is the name).
While looking at new construction, I noticed that some builders caulked the outside of the windows at the brick... but most didn't. The ones that did looked pretty rough and I wonder if they did it to 'cover' something up. Does it maybe depend on the ...

At the sides it is ok to caulk but at th e head and sill gaps must be left to allow water a path to escape from behind I replace windows in brick houses here ....
Brick is not a barrier to moisture so I'd prefer that the caulk is strategic.

I can either use caulk to seal the joint (under a large roof overhang) or standard mortar.
