I have a small problem which is bugging me.
As you all know I puchased Chers old tank. Last 2 weeks I have been busy doing the plumbing and making sure everything is leak-free.
Plumbing is basically setup as below and the return punp is a Reef Octopus...

What about a flexible section of pipe to reduce the vibration propagating to the rest of the pipes? ....
Not ideal.
I got the pump off the bottom and put some polystyrene where pipes touch glass/stand.
I had/have much the same issues.

Run the water in every sink/shower/tub in order to be sure all water fighting against the pressure....
Quick test.
Is the house on a septic system? The gurgling is happening because the water cannot drain fast or the drain field is failing.

If you are on city water, the city would have to find the "curbstop....
As for shutting down the water if you have city water there usually is a shutoff in the yard somewhere (it's the nut that the stem goes though).

Use it's acting up again...took and drained the water heater first...it's all clear....took the upright pipe the water....
I would start looking at re-plumbing your house with Pex.
pipe it would have been a lot simpler.

Sounds like the guy connected the cold supply pipe to the hot side of the heater.
