CCTV does help you, there are no more incident happen.
Installing just a CCTV at home is not much useful unless you have someone 'guide' your house 24hrs motion detector as that can make a distinction between humans and pets...

They have a great range of cctv from 200 euros.

If you went to view a house and they had the area is prone to crime....
It really does depend.
What is the reason helps, so a cctv system couldnt hurt.
However, I would think of the wider implications of seeing CCTV outside a house.
