What's your system recovery CD? I've used Ultimate Boot CD and GParted. What works for you?

Hiren's boot CD works for recovery but it really shines when you need to repartion or format run a samba fileserver (windows like filesharing) run a ssh server recovery and undeletion of files with utilities and procedures....

Whenever I use my Windows XP SP2 installation CD that came with my Dell computer to use the recovery console, I have a problem.
I understand that it's a bad idea to remove the CD while the recovery console is in use, because recovery console needs access...

It is likely a bug in the software on the Dell CD, wherein it never releases the lock-recovery-console-to-boot-menu.html.

Hi-- I am just getting started with Windows Server 2003, and I am learning the Backup utility. I am creating a complete backup of my server to an external hard drive, and Backup says it will create a recovery floppy for me to use if I need to restore....

I keep a USB.
Not something I've ever tried but it may work.
The requirement for a floppy drive is hard coded and then burning it to CD as an emulated floppy.
Of something reasonable like a CD during installations.

As per WilHil comment Magic iso is good....
A lot of the files may be currupt and not readable, but as long as cd was somewhat repaired, you should be able to get.
An image file on your machine that you can mount using any virtual cd program.
