I have tons of old CDs with cases and I feel bad just throwing it all in the trash. Can this stuff be recycled? I am talking about hundreds of jewel cases with CDs. The data on the CDs in unimportant to me so I have no need to destroy it.

I've reviewed a couple of old threads on remastered vs. original CDs by The Clash but wasn't seeing much of a concensus. Thus I'm wondering if this is a case by case scenario, with some originals sounding better and some remasters sounding superior.

I like all the remasters myself, but I know I am in the minority here at the Forum .
Guidance please.
Funny you should ask this, I'm trying to make my mind up whether to buy "Give 'em Enough Rope" or just needle-drop my old vinyl .

I received an audiobook on CDs for Christmas--"Hollywood Moon" by Joseph Wambaugh--and I'd like to convert it for use on my iPod. How do I do that? Thanks.

A ton of smaller files (some people may even prefer it), you can rip the tracks from the cds as .m4a.

You can install from the Live-CD available at http://fedoraproject.org/en/....
If you boot up the installable LiveCD (top 'download now' button) there will be a desktop icon 'Install to hard disk' - double click it and the graphical installer will start .

I am working on making educational CDs. I require medium level copy protection code which may not be easily breakable by "non experts", similar to that in game CDs, so you have to have the CD in the drive while playing and have to enter key while installing...

I'm thinking of backing up important CDs and DVDs by not simply copy-pasting the files from the CD or DVD, that's why i'd like to create ISO image files instead. What's a good app for that? It should run smoothly on Fedora 11.

Dd is readily available from the command line:
dd if=/dev/cdrom of=/home/sam/myCD.iso bs=2048 conv=sync,notrunc
AcetoneISO can be the application you're looking for
In Gnome you can :
Insert the CD (or DVD) into the drive .

I have a normal WalMart-style fireproof safe that I use to store important documents. I've also been using it to store backup DVDs, each in its own slim case. This takes up a bit of space though, so I was thinking of putting them into one of the small...

I have learned that Sentry Safe in fact makes fire safes that are suitable for protecting CDs and DVDs for a search for file box safes suitable....
I originally thought that you could not safely store CDs and DVDs in a fire safe.

I'd like to be able to determine what music album CD is in a CD drive. For example, if someone claims that the CD in their drive is Eminem - The Eminem Show, I would like to be able to verify that the CD is indeed The Eminem Show.
Any ideas? I've applied...

Hi,
I'm looking for some software to read some old(> 5 years) CD-RWs I wrote. Unfortunately, they were written in UDF format, and my Windows Vista machine does not accept the UDF reader software written onto the CD.
ISOBuster and CDRoller can read ...

I don't have read specifically udf support....
Although, according to Wikipedia Windows Vista does support UDF, so I would question the integrity of the disk if it is not working .
Its very good at handling most any burnable media.
You could try ImgBurn.

Its not free, but they have a trial version.
Have you tired the Power CD+G Burner by Power Karaoke ? The website says it supports Windows Vista so it should work with Windows 7 .
