Every tech conference I've ever been to, and I've been to a lot, has had absolutely abysmal Wi-Fi and Internet access.

Wi-fi for a moving laptop works only if the router is moving together with the laptop, otherwise shows that one implementation works just like a cell phone network where there are a number.

I would love to get a wi-fi device with a touch screen interface that will work well, but hopefully not break my budget of $300.
I already have a cell phone with the pre-paid provider...

The iPod Touch will do pretty much everything an iPhone will do, I believe, other than making calls.
