I currently have an ASP.NET web app running on a cluster in a data center talking to a SQL Server DB. I need to make this setup redundant with a hot-hot DB in another data center as well as a replicated web cluster.

It depends on how current you want your data and how much data you configuration, 2 nodes with a DRBD RAID10 pair of storage systems to keep the data up and running datacenter with transaction logs being shipped....

They were expensive and not at all responsive.
I'd stay away from them.

I would suggest RSP consider to put at least 1 ip address in each data center to let the clients to ping and some files to test download, for example 5MB, 10MB, 50MB.
So that they can choose the right data center which have better connection between data...
