I have a 2007 Chevy Silverado (new body style) with about 55k miles on it. A buddie of mine has a 2009 with over 30k on it. We've both noticed the trucks consume oil. About a quart every 3,000 miles. My buddie let it go until the oil life said to change...

K&N oil filter is good also and flows better than Mobil....
They are built to last longer than the average 3k oil change.

A motor , IIrc it takes about 5 hp to drive a oil pump with 10w 40 with little restriction and length will save in trying to regenerate the loss , there was a site that had the formulas to figure oil pump hp loss .
