To disable CHDK just set....
By using CHDK, go to the Wikipedia site
and study it all, I no longer have the SD1000, but I did load the CHDK
and it added many additional functions to the camera.

Or, you could just skip the switch altogether and use an "autotimer" script in CHDK.
