Sample Chatter Excerpts
Dancing with the Stars Finale - Is there any doubt?
It's time for a woman to win again, and she's certainly the one to do it. I've loved her for years and truly think she deserves to win. A bit of me wonders if the deck was stacked from the beginning though. Did the show producers want another female winner and specifically chose someone they knew could do it? source
Belly dancing at reception tacky or not?
My family and I attended a wedding several years ago, and one subject that always comes up in connection to that wedding is the fact that a belly dancer appeared at the reception to dance. The reception was held at a restaurant, and I assume the manager offered the service as an optional part of the wedding package. However, several people were apparently offended that a scantily clad woman was swivelling her hips around each table, feeling it was inappropriate and tacky. I know that in the Middle East, sometimes belly dancing is performed at festive occasion such as weddings, but this wedding and rest of the reception itself was typically Western. I also understand that due to the stereotypes associated with belly dancing, and its subsequent corruption in music videos and such, people have a misguided perception and feel uncomfortable. Hence, I am curious as to whether it was tacky to allow the belly dancer to perform, or whether people were simply being uptight? source
Do you think it is wrong to go out dancing at clubs?
I guess I enjoy the yummy drinks too - usually just one though! And I like the idea of meeting new people, not the same ones I spend all day with in classes. source
Are Children Being Robbed of Their Childhood?
Steele- I wouldn't go that far, I mean I don't care if a girl over 18 wears clothes that bare flesh, it's thier business and they can do whatever they want, it's just when it goes under 18 and especially 16 that's the problem for me, I don't want to see a 10 year old running around in clothes that well aren't for children. Glad neither my 14 or 11 year old cousin have taken that up yet. source
Dealing with disappointed children?
It happens a lot here with Taryn - mainly her mom missing important things. I think for the most part, Taryn is pretty "with it" and understands both that things do come up, but also that her mom's priorities are majorly out of whack. I just try to be there to listen when she does get upset, and make it my priority to me there to support her. I can't make up for her mom missin things, but I can do my best to make sure someone is there supporting her. source
