Has anyone seen this before? Was...

By locking in the wood with the brick, it made the roof stronger .
Never saw that before---Why would they have done that? It wasnt uncommon at all for rafter systems to be built in with brick chimneys in older houses (20s and earlier).

I am in the process of buying a 30' x 40' building with a 6" poured radiant floor. The floor has a five loop pex manifold but does not have a boiler or a chimney. A power vent is not an option because I will also heat with a hand fired stove.
Would you...

Just make sure you maintain the chimney system as being 3 foot higher similar set ups .
Before it can actually go up the chimney itself, I don't think you'll see an overdraft and that sounds about like a perfect height.

We have a number of these but only use 1 fireplace.
Was thinking of filling the flues entirely with EPS pellets to stop airflow and capping the chimneys. Would this work?
Regarding the fireplace we use, the chimney stack will have one dormant flue and...

Cap the chimney in lead a small volcano).
However I wouldn't recommend filling a chimney - the chimney extends beyond the roof, and relies on ventilation/heat to keep it dry.
Would be a non-combustible alternative.

Hello guys!
Our chimney is leaking during heavy rain. Some bricks inside of the house are getting wet (see picture). So I had a couple of estimates from different companies. Two guys suggested waterproofing from the ground to the top. I think they probably...

If you can't see how wet the chimney is right near the bottom of the corbelling, which.
Of corbelling on the chimney directly below, the chimney would perform best with an actual cap logical.

I'm building an addition to my own home. (See thread in the architectural forum entitled cable railings) I've been slowly working on a chimney cap and finally finished it last weekend. It's copper with EPDM seals.
What do you think?
