You need good off lights when not needed....
Generally grains, nuts, rice, flour and sugar are cheaper in bulk .
You save will save you money.
Meal planning is essential.
Up throwing part of it away you aren't really saving any money.

I made my own laundry detergent, and I am trying it tonight. It is powder. I grated one 4.5oz bar of soap (I used the cheap ivory) and than I added one cup of Borax, and one cup of Washing Soda. It mixes really well.
I also made some dishwasher detergent...
