You can shop at Baybrook Mall and lots of the centers for the upper Texas coast....

Small one called Galveston Bay
Bigger one called the Gulf Of Mexico.
Clear Lake City, Kemah, Seabrook, League City.
All of these are on Clear Lake.
Great boating, just off the NW corner of Galveston.

That dome idea just silly.
I lived in Houston for 7 years.
The city is very spread out and covers a large area.
Their dome only covers downtown, a relatively small area compared to the whole city a city from an event that only happens....

San Antonio is purt 'near the only city in Texas with a real personality...maybe it helps, Texas' disputed sausage capital.
You can also drive out to Lake Travis for water sports and swimming.

Texas is huge and very diverse.
My favorite city is San Antonio.
The Riverwalk area downtown south of the city.
I enjoyed Midland, it is out in the flat west Texas oil country.
