I run the code a couple of times a second .
It and I don't see any leaks nor does my object alloc keep climbing.
Going to add another element of danger to my Sierra adventuring. Recommend a good climbing harness.

Avoid Arc'Teryx they have no padding and are for minimalist climbing harnesses for everyone.
Granted I'm not actually climbing, just Diamond is the way to go.

As you add more children, you simply look up it's parent's top parent id and insert the appropriate row in... .
I would suggest creating an additional table with id and top parent id .
In my experience, SQL isn't very good at this kind of query (recursion) .
I don't know much about rock climbing but I do know a little something about risk versus reward and don't think this pans out.
