Is it possible to access the laptops CPU clock ratio or FSB in the BIOS and overclock the settings? Or is a program like ClockGen needed in order to overclock the settings?

Why is it recommended to have a 1:1 ratio of Front-side Bus and DRAM? Does it really affect the performance of the CPU?

For example, see So.
I quote from FSB:DRAM 1:1 ratio question :
The higherMany people advice 1:1 ratio, but there are also testimonies for the opposite.
Much for 1:1 fsb:dram ratio being the best .

I melted my last computer by accident, so this time, I figure I will get some help before I perform an encore. I have been messing around with some settings, here is my system:

Am I understanding this correctly?
CPU Speed:
CPU Clock 3370....
DRAM:FSB Ratio 5:1 it at the 3.3/3.4 range until you get better cooling.
Bus 802.6 MHz
Ram module speed should be as close to cpu freq as possible.

When I build my first pc is was an amd athlon xpm and the name of the game was push fsb at the cost of ghz, this was esp true when the 64bit athlons came out, they were getting crazy fsb.
I built a pentium 820d and it looked like that was the idea as ...

Yeah my chip is unlocked, good thing too, ill play .
It is now called Bclk (base-clock limited in the overclockability of the CPU.
There isn't FSB anymore with Intel rigs since the Socket 1366/1156 days.

I know quickpath is faster. But if two computers had the same specs, but one with FSB and the other with Quickpath, how much faster would the latter be?
And excuse this noob question, but is there a way to modify your setup from FSB to Quickpath?

RAM might be in a 5:4 ratio, etc would never happen - just....
For example, CPUs might be in ratio of 4:1, so a 500MHz FSB would = 2000MHz CPU (very simple a 500MHz FSB would = 2000MHz CPU (very simple scenario).

Howdy folks!
I'm running two sticks of F3-17000CL9-16GBSR Sniper (for a total of 8 GB in two slots - dual channel) in an MSI 890 GXM-G65 mobo. My processor is a 1090T.
I've got it running pretty stable with an FSB increase to 225 - which means the RAM...

Might also see if your mobo uses DOCP (DRAM Over Clock Profile) which might set the sticks up pretty.
Every mobo is a little bit different, if stable now and you want to try, could raise CPU/NB voltage.
