The colo should be a lot more reliable than the server in your parents' closet.
Quality.
The colo will obviously be more expensive than sticking a server in your parents' closet.

i done it and was so happy to do it .
Take all the crap that doesn't need to be in there out and organize things by type so they're easier to find .
