Do I really need to address the cockroach problem?

Is this a cockroach? I found it in my kitchen and im a bit worried. It looks more what i would call an earwig but would like to be sure ?

Looks to me like a silverfish (lepisma saccharina) a common household pest .

I tend to just go for the old hard stamp with a shoe on. But they're tough and quick too so this doesn't have a 100% kill rating.
I would like to have a go with a nail gun loaded with fine, sharp, tungsten ammo.
