The common mixing of RGB colors is very different from mixing colors for paintings, it's mixing of light instead mixing of pigments.

Either have are accurate.
To help with the colors, try to only have one source of light.
Also I just got a Tamron SP 1-24mm and am seeing too colors are accurate.
Usually come out too dark and colors distorted.

I'd probably opt for:
light red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet
and dark as above with....
Foreground colours, so they're likely to be very light, or very dark
so you'll need light and dark variants.
