I don't think there's anything wrong with it per se, but I think I would feel a little awkward because I never know what to do with my hands. You could have the groomsmen escort the bridesmaids in arm-in-arm, so they wouldn't feel like they needed to be holding on to something, then tell them to maybe clasp their hands in front of them when they're standing in the front. A lot of people use parasols, especially for outdoor weddings. They don't wilt, and you can put one of the BMs in charge of them so you don't have to think about it. source
