My application has news, posts, comments and various other common things. I'd like to be able to keep track of what a user has viewed so that they can be greeted with "4 new Posts" and that type of thing.

[Rant] Egh, youtube comments emailed to me every second! (and negative, but not the point for now!) I can't find out where the hell to turn off comments for a single video...the emails every so hour are annoying but I want to keep comments for my other...

Is there an easy edit I can make to comments.php to remove the requirement for an email when people leave comments? I still want their name, else I'd use the option to turn both off.

You need to click the title to make a comment.

From here click on Options > Reader comments > Allow
Once set to "allow," but when I went back to the page, comments were suddenly allowed.
Try this:
Pick a post, click edit.
