General question, all these debt help companies in the media saying how they will clear your debts, if you don' t have a mortgage what is in it for them.. Or do they cherry pick the best cases?

Sometimes they buy the whole debt, sometimes they just act on behalf of....
A payment or acknowledge the debt? months I thought that that for eg DCA takes 30% and say creditor takes 70%, or does the dca buy the whole debt? It varies.

Has anyone here had any experience using or ever considered or researched using one of these seemingly popping up from everywhere debt settlement companies? Are ther any good ones? Just about every thing I get to pop up is direct ads to the individual...

Between the fees, the extended terms, the high APRs etc.,those debt consolidation companies.

Is there a minmum below which credit card companies find it unprofitable to pursue a debt? I hear that debt collectors refuse to take on the job of collecting low value debts because they waste too much time chasing them up. is this correct?
